Apple’s chief executive has confirmed that Siri will integrate with OpenAI’s ChatGPT technology by the end of 2024.
ChatGPT in Siri
The initial Apple Intelligence features will be released alongside iOS 18.1 in October, but without ChatGPT integration in Siri. ChatGPT will be integrated by the end of the calendar year but initially will be focus on “world knowledge” as mentioned by Tim Cooks to the idownloadblog’s team.
With ChatGPT from OpenAI integrated into Siri and Writing Tools, the user will get easy access switching apps because Siri is able to ChatGPT for questions about photos or documents within the system. Additionally, in the Compose in Writing Tools function, Apple AI will allow the user to create and illustrate original content within the system integrated app. The privacy is also an Apple goal, they implemented a privacy mechanics while ChatGPT is used by asking the user before sharing any information to the ChatGPT servers. ChatGPT is free to use without an account, but Subscribers will have the option connect their accounts for additional features.
Apple AI Requirement and Compatible Devices
The system requirements for Apple Intelligence are quite manageable. However, you’ll need an iPhone 15 Pro or later, or an iPad/Mac with an M1 or later Apple silicon chip. Otherwise, it won’t be compatible. Apple Intelligence will be available in beta on previously mentioned devices language set to U.S. English, as part of iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia this fall. Some features, additional languages, and platforms will be coming over the course of the next year.
Users Concerns
Despite the excitement of some users for this news, and the disappointment of many because Apple dropped support for relatively new devices like the iPhone 15 and the 14 Pro Max line, there are many other users who would prefer to keep AI entirely off their devices.
Conclusion
When Apple publicly launches its version of AI and ChatGPT, we will see how well it is accepted by everyday users, but we are very sure than for many others is going to be an awesome tool.
